New live-action ‘The Little Mermaid’ sand sculpture takes the form of Disney Springs’ Pandora jewelry
A new sand sculpture from Pandora Jewelry at Disney Springs is starting to take shape, with an intricate model being sculpted for the live-action version of The Little Mermaid.
‘The Little Mermaid’ New Sand Sculpture
Located between Sperry Thread and American Thread at Disney Springs, a new sand sculpture has been created to commemorate the upcoming The Little Mermaid. The plan is to display the new Pandora girlfriend jewelry for the movie inside the shell once the artwork is complete.
Two of the four sides of the display feature movie logotypes, while the other two feature Disney x Pandora. The marketing is printed on a bright blue banner that reminds us of the sea scene in the movie.
An artificial rock separates each of the four corners. Ariel is just starting to take shape at the top level.
Various placards read “Do not touch”, and a thin rope fence is installed around the display.
Artists are working hard to create a scene from The Little Mermaid out of sand. Not quite finished yet.
The open shell is adorned with jewelry from the Disney x Pandora accessories line.
An information leaflet is also included as part of the exhibit. It is written:
Pandora’s new collection captures the essence of friendship and adventure in designs that bring to life a new perspective on reimagined classics that champion women’s empowerment and independence.
Each piece is crafted in solid sterling silver or 14K gold plated and features colorful design details that bring each character to life. Collection highlights include: Ariel dangle made with the iconic iridescent mermaid tail. Sebastian and Ursula are dangling, representing the movie’s favorite sidekick and infamous villainess.
Shop the new collection in stores and online starting May 25th.
Live-action version of The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is directed by Oscar-nominated Rob Marshall, known for Chicago and Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns. The remake will feature Harry Bailey as Ariel the Little Mermaid, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, David Diggs as Sebastian the Crab, Awkwafina as Scuttle the Diving Bird, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and King Triton. It stars Javier Bardem and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. Norma Dumezweni will play a new character, Eric’s mother, Queen Selina.
The full trailer was released during the Oscar awards ceremony, and a teaser trailer was released in April. Alan Menken, who wrote the music for the original 1989 version of The Little Mermaid, worked with Lin-Manuel Miranda to modify some of the lyrics for the live-action remake.
The Little Mermaid will hit theaters on May 26, 2023. Bailey and Jodi Benson, who voice the animated version of Ariel, teamed up at the film’s premiere.
