Online education has dramatically changed the way we study. But all the positives aside, attending online classes from home has led to a range of mental and physical health issues for both students and teachers.
Covid-19 has brought the world to a standstill. As we know life has changed and this change has become the new constant.Educational institutions have adopted online education. I found it very appealing because I didn’t have to do any preparations and was able to spend time in the comfort of my own home.
However, it soon began to affect us for both mental and physical reasons. need. However, this was not happening due to the pandemic.
Online learning makes students less focused and their eyes wander off screens. This made it difficult for most of the students to keep up with the teaching.
The pressure to focus and produce the desired results caused a great deal of stress and anxiety. Tasks, homework, homework were lazy. Most of the kids were seen falling behind and succumbing to pressure.
Online education has also caused many physical problems, including vision problems due to increased screen time, straining the eyes and causing major headaches. also happened.
Classroom ethics were violated to a great extent. Posture, regularity, lack of routine, and attention all took their toll on health. Sitting all the time also caused weight problems. The lack of physical activity made students restless and frustrated, had a negative impact on their eating habits, and harmed their physical health.
bad ergonomics
Human factors and ergonomics are the application of psychological and physiological principles to the engineering and design of products, processes, and systems.
Studying online leads to poor/bad ergonomics and many problems such as back pain and fibromyalgia pain. The lack of physical activity makes children obese. Thanks to the lookout, it’s only going to get worse.
Online education surprisingly led to vitamin D deficiency. Lack of sunlight, poor diet, and exercise caused more problems than expected. Strange as it may sound, minor injuries are occurring due to lack of physical activity and lack of calcium. , thus causing even more widespread damage.
One of the biggest online learning challenges many students face is the difficulty of concentrating on a screen for long periods of time. It goes without saying that there is a ton of distracting content available online that often attracts and distracts students. We have put a lot of effort into designing our online classes to be vivid, engaging and interactive.
Online classes are not entirely reliable as internet connectivity plays a key role. Although internet access has improved significantly over the past few years, in some parts of the country people are still Internet speed and connection are not accessible.
Inconsistent internet connectivity has emerged as one of the biggest excuses for students to avoid some key requirements, such as an active visual presence where good vigilance is essential. Turning off the camera creates a disconnect between teacher and student. It has been widely observed that students are distracted by other activities after logging into class. Curriculum is perceived as de-emphasized by students, given that they are freed from the regulations and boundaries of an appropriate classroom environment.
Students are more likely to be distracted while studying online. Traditional classroom teaching offers the advantage of face-to-face interaction with peers, which is usually moderated by teachers. Interaction in a physical classroom provides children, especially those in early development, with a stable environment for social interaction and helps them develop skills such as empathy and cooperation. , assisting them in their overall development and in real-life situations.
But I believe that learning never stops. In fact, learning evolves not just to survive, but to thrive. Technology has proven to be the most important enabler of the same, an invention which itself is the result of learning. Technology helped learning, and learning led to technological progress. Students need guidance from both parents and teachers to get through this difficult time and learn more.
Both offline learning and e-learning will go hand in hand, and online education will eventually become an integral part of school education. Somewhere in the future, education will be hybrid. During Covid, technology has become part and parcel of scholarship. Online applications and programs have helped both teachers and students develop new skills and abilities and enhance their knowledge. Online classes are not meant to replace traditional classroom teaching, and we will have to return to traditional classes once the pandemic is over.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we can say that online education started out as a huge advantage, but has changed dramatically and has not worked very well in the same spirit. Increased screen time significantly increases vision problems, headaches, and tension.
