Massimo Cutuli, Chief Risk Officer, Optive
Massimo has over 25 years of experience in financial services and management consulting. He is currently the Chief Risk Officer of Optiver US, a derivatives market maker. Previously, he was Head of Risk at Citadel Securities. He worked in banking at JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs. He spent some time in PWC’s Finance and Risk Advisory practice and was a Quant Developer at Bloomberg LP. Massimo has served on the Risk Committees of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and London Clearinghouse, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s degree in Space Science (University of London), a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering (Cornell University) and a Master’s degree in Operations and His Research (Columbia University).

David Ye, Executive in Residence, Department of Mathematics, Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MIDS)
David will be Duke’s Executive in Residence from Spring 2021. In his role, he draws on his extensive industry experience and contacts to advise the department on curriculum, teaching and research specifically related to his field of Quantitative Finance. Prior to Duke, he served as Chief Risk Officer at several companies including Nomura Holding America, State Street Global Markets and Guardian Life Insurance. He is designing and teaching his Math 585 – Algorithmic Trading from Spring 2021. David finds great satisfaction and intellectual stimulation in teaching and mentoring his students. Beyond the Mathematics Department, David has been actively involved in supporting Duke as a member of the Graduate Visitors Committee from 2017-2023.
